About Us

KBRSOdyssea Divers was established in February 2004 as the dive operator for Kima Bajo Resort & Spa, which was nearing completion at that time. Building and outfitting of the dive centre and dive boats began with earnest, and the first boat Angelina, was commissioned on 3 June 2004.

The early stages of Odyssea Divers was dedicated to the training of staff and instilling in them values that were in keeping with that of a world-class dive operation. Our first guests arrived in September 2004 and since then we have been serving divers from all over the world, many of whom have become satisfied customers who returned to dive with us time and time again.

Odyssea Divers was the first dive operator to work out of Wori Bay, a mere 25-min boat ride to Bunaken Island. With our enthusiasm for diving, our skilled dive guides quickly discovered a number of great dive sites within the Bay and in close proximity to the resort. This literally brings meaning to our claim of "world-class diving at your doorsteps". In addition to the list of dive sites already well known within the Bunaken Marine Park, we can now add Odyssea Point 1, Odyssea Point 2, Posi-Posi, Aba Point, Open Sea Point, Wori Bay, Gabet, Bodoh and Tiwoho. In these dive sites alone, novices and professional underwater photographers can find may interesting fish life to satisfy their curiosity.

In June 2006, the owners and management of Odyssea Divers decided that our guests could be better served if we operated out of our own resort. The concept of Cocotinos, A Small Beach Resort, was mooted. (Later on, the name was changed to Cocotinos A Boutique Dive Resort & Spa). The design of the resort was carried out concurrently with the process of acquiring beach land in the fishing village of Kima Bajo. Eleven families were relocated with compensation which included new housing that was built for them in the village. After 6 months of construction, Cocotinos Manado, with Odyssea Divers as dive operator opened its door on 10 October 2007 to welcome a group of divers from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

On 1 March 2009, Odyssea Divers announced its strategic marketing alliance with Euro Divers International, o ne of the largest dive operations based in Europe. In doing so, Odyssea Divers recognises the need to extend its service to a wider fraternity of divers from Europe, and to promote Manado as a premium dive destination in the world.

On 1 August 2010, Odyssea Divers opens their 2nd Dive Centre in Cocotinos Sekotong, Lombok.

On 31 August 2010, the alliance between Odysssea Divers and Euro Divers was terminated by both parties amicably. Odyssea Divers maintains its efforts to provide the same level of professional service to all divers and welcomes the efforts of agents to continue promoting Cocotinos Manado to European divers.

Odyssea DiversThere are a number of firsts in Odyssea Divers. Our purpose-built boats set new standards for Manado. We were the first to have built-in toilets on our boats for the convenience of guests, especially the ladies. We were also the first to feature a cut-out on the gunwale of the boat to make entry into the water and getting back into the boat much easier.

Nowadays, almost every boat in Manado has copied these two features of ours. There is also our hot or chilled face towels after the day's diving, etc. Our dive service is much talked about among our regular guests and we are proud to note that Cocotinos Manado has received the Excellence in Service Award in 2009 by Scuba Diver Australasia (Issue 8/2009: Best Value Destinations)

Odyssea Divers is also dedicated to the development of human resource, for the local villagers. We have, from the very beginning, conducted training programmes for young men and young women from the nearby villages so that they could have a better chance of obtaining gainful employment, especially in view of the steady growth in tourism in Manado.

Most of all, we the management of Odyssea Divers are dedicated to the preservation and protection of the marine environment, for the enjoyment of all divers now and divers in the generations to come.
